He gained his management experience in several retail and service areas before rejoining South Yorkshire Police in 2000, working in the Communications Department and achieving the position of Shift Manager at the Atlas Court Communications Centre.
In June 2007 Barry was temporarily appointed to the role of Partnership Manager at the Safety Camera Partnership. In December 2007 he was appointed to the role on a permanent basis.
