Drivers advised to allow extra time for their journey during work on the M1 in South Yorks
The Highways Agency is advising road users to allow extra time for their journeys on the M1 in
The work will include replacing the existing steel central reservation barrier with a new concrete barrier over a three-mile (5km) stretch of the M1. The scheme will also include drainage improvement works.
During the work lane three will be closed on the north and southbound carriageway, with drivers using the hard shoulder. This will maintain three narrow lanes of traffic in each direction.
There will be a 50mph speed limit in place for the safety of road users and road workers. The traffic management, including the reduced speed limit, will remain in place 24 hours a day. Work will take place between 8am and midnight Monday to Friday and 8am to 4pm on Saturdays.
Road users may experience moderate delays so are advised to allow extra time for their journeys. Work is expected to be completed by 28 August.
