Drive for Life for Free
Jan 27 2009
South Yorkshire Casualty Reduction Partnership invites 17 – 24 year old learner drivers to free of charge road safety training.
Young drivers across South Yorkshire are being encouraged to improve their driving skills and knowledge by attending ‘Drive for Life’.
The project provided by the South Yorkshire Casualty Reduction Partnership, and part funded by the Department for Transport is FREE of charge to all 17-24 year olds.
The two hour interactive programme is designed to provide information that will enable drivers to make sensible and safe decisions when out on the roads.
Issues such as having the correct documentation, speed, drink/drug driving, wearing seatbelts, and distractions are some of the important areas covered.
A spokesperson for the Partnership said,
“We would encourage all young people to attend Drive for Life, which promotes responsible driving. Young drivers are over represented in collisions on our roads and this initiative aims to raise their road safety awareness and help them to avoid becoming a statistic.
Several Driving Instructors actively support the project and regularly encourage pupils to attend. We would be pleased to see others following their example”.
All young people attending the project will receive a certificate of attendance and a free information and goody pack.
