Repeat Speeder Faces Two Year Driving Ban
Anita Dombrovska who committed 42 speeding offences over a six month period has finally had her comeuppance when at Barnsley Magistrates’ Court on 30 May she was disqualified from driving for two years and hit with fines and court costs.
The Lithuanian defendant, who the court also found guilty of driving while uninsured, was photographed breaking the speed limit at various safety camera sites in the
Dombrovska who was driving the unregistered vehicle caught on camera appeared to be avoiding punishment by regularly moving accommodation and not responding to Notices of Intended Prosecution. That was until the investigations team at the South Yorkshire Safety Camera Partnership finally tracked her down and took her to court where she was prosecuted for her four most recent offences.
Julian Cotton, Communications Manager at the Safety Camera Partnership, commenting on the court’s judgement, said: “This lady obviously thought she could continue to flaunt the law and get away with it. Not only was she putting lives in danger by exceeding the stated speed limits, it appears she had little respect for other road users driving vehicles without the appropriate insurance.”
“Our investigations team, which looks into drivers who pervert the court of justice, provide fraudulent and misleading information or are simply prolific offenders, is pulling out all the stops to ensure that these criminals who try to play the system are brought to justice,” he continued.
“Repeat offenders will eventually have to pay the price for their misdemeanours and as in this case their punishment will be severe,” he concluded.
